Big Tree Plant
The Town Council’s Climate and Biodiversity Committee's ambition to create a 'Big Tree Plant' was a success, with 1000 small trees being distributed to residents, community projects and allotments throughout the town in December 2020. This project is testament of people's desire to contribute and improve their local environment. Each tree will help tackle the climate emergency by absorbing carbon, help provide habitat and food to increase biodiversity and provide a diverse variety of trees that can enhance all our lives for many years to come.
Cllr Chris Williams says, “There has never been a more crucial time to be planting trees, every tree planted in our community is helping to tackle the climate emergency. Working at grassroots levels, this enables people to take part in positive activities for the environment and wildlife, but also gets people outside as a family and is greatly beneficial to increase mental wellbeing."
