So What Is A Youth Council? A local youth councils are forums that represent the views of young people at a local level. Many youth councils are run by young people for young people, so that they can give young people a voice and enable them to make their views heard in the decision-making process. Youth Councils discuss relevant issues, engage with decision makers and contribute to improving the lives of young people within their communities.
Why Should I Join My Local Youth Council? By joining your local Youth Council, you will be a part of a community where the young people of Faversham can share their view with other youth members and the Mayor of Faversham. We believe that young people have the power and potential to take action and make positive changes to our town.
What's In It For Me? Once you have signed up to Faversham Youth Council, you will be invited to regular Faversham Youth Council meetings to discuss different subjects/projects with The Mayor Of Faversham, other Youth Council members and Youth Leader Brooke Williams. You'll be able to raise your opinions/concerns as well as be apart of the planning process of future Faversham Youth Council Events.
What are Faversham Youth Council Meetings About? A few days prior to the meeting date, each youth member will be provided with a meeting agenda, where they will be able to learn about the different topics that will be discussed. There will also be opportunities for the Youth to propose their own subjects to be added to the agenda, in order to discuss topics that they are most passionate about.
Will My Voice Be Heard? During the meetings The Mayor of Faversham will be present as the Chair and Youth Leader, Brooke Williams will be present in Attendance to minute each meeting. Once the minutes have been approved, The Faversham Town Council Youth Working Group will also receive a set of the minutes, in order to turn words into actions. How Do I Sign Up?
